American Petroleum Institute Enters Into Agreement with GP to Provide Oil and Natural Gas eLearning Courses

Monday, Nov 07, 2011

Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation
(NYSE: GPX), is pleased to announce its agreement with the American Petroleum Institute (API) to deliver and market API-U-branded eLearning courses.

GP currently hosts the API-U portal and provides approximately 140 eLearning courses covering technical, safety, health and environmental topics applicable to the Oil and Natural Gas Industry. Through this relationship, companies in the oil and natural gas fields and their personnel can access the training they need to work more effectively,
more safely and with greater environmental awareness.

The API-U technical portfolio includes 66 maintenance courses, broken down into four catalogs: Mechanical Maintenance; Electrical Maintenance; Instrumentation and Control; and Math and Science Basics. The courses are intended to provide learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge they need to excel at their jobs. The Health, Safety, and Environmental portfolio includes 72 standards-based courses and is broken down in two catalogs, General Industry Standards Awareness and Onshore Oil and Gas Safety.

API-U courses are reviewed for consistency and conformance with API practices to ensure content is up to date. Accessing the courses through API-U ensures organizations never have to worry that their personnel are accessing outdated content.

Jim Parish, Senior Vice President of GP’s Oil and Gas Solutions team, said, “The API relationship, and in particular the services and support we are providing to API-U, will enhance our ability to serve our global customer base. We are pleased to have the opportunity to join the capabilities of GP’s world-class Oil and Gas Industry team with API—the preeminent trade association for the American oil and natural gas industry.” Parish went on to say, “The technology-intensive demands associated with the oil and gas industry require a high level of personnel training. The API-U eLearning courses provide
learners with the vital skills to not only succeed, but to also work effectively and safely.”
