Chesapeake Oilfield Services launching large oil rig training schemes

Thursday, Nov 10, 2011

Chesapeake Oilfield Services is launching large oil rig training schemes in its Eastern Housing Centre and Training Facility in Athens Township.

The company opened the facility in 2010, in order to honour Chesapeake’s backing of the Northern Tier economy and employment of local people. The programmes will show people that the company wants to be a prominent in promoting best practice in the workplace.

The new training centre contains a genuine oil drilling system, on which those training will be able to get physical experience to prepare for roles, before they have to run a rig that is drilling for oil.

Chesapeake expects the facility to begin training workers during the first quarter of 2012. The oil rig training courses will last for 12 hours each day over a seven-day period in which they will cover virtually everything.
